Eric Marshall, as manager of legal mobilization, is the Lawyers’ Committee’s chief organizer and is responsible for creating and managing the infrastructure necessary to direct large scale pro bono resources to address modern civil rights issues.
Marshall is the co-leader of Election Protection, the nation’s largest voter support coalition. In addition to ensuring the effective collaboration of a large and diverse coalition, he directs various components of the Lawyers’ Committee’s Election Protection program, including: volunteer management, coalition building, online and offline communications, legal field programs, the hotline infrastructure, and various proactive problem solving programs.
Eric plays a leading role in several election reform coalitions aimed at combatting voter suppression legislation and advocating for policies that will expand access to our democracy for traditionally disadvantaged Americans. He has testified before state and local legislatures on election reform legislation, and has actively supported and advocated for voting rights legislation at the federal level.
In addition to his work on voting rights, Marshall played a key role in the development of the Loan Modification Scam Prevention Network and is involved in the development and implementation of the Lawyers’ Committee’s online communications programs.
Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee in June 2007, Marshall managed a citywide council chairman campaign in Washington, D.C. In 2004 and 2005 he was the driving force behind the District’s smoke-free workplaces law while working as the field director for the American Cancer Society. Before coming to the Nation’s Capital,Marshall worked as a field organizer for the John Kerry for President Campaign in Portsmouth, NH, and as the finance director for a House of Delegates campaign in Northern Virginia.
A native of Suburban Boston, he graduated with honors from Springfield College, and received his master’s degree in Public Relations from Boston University.
