Gerard Caprio is the William Brough Professor of Economics and Chair of the Center for Development Economics at Williams College. Dr. Caprio is an alumnus of Williams College, having received his undergraduate degree in economics with honors in 1972. He then went on to complete his Ph.D. in economics at the University of Michigan(Ann Arbor) in 1976. Prior to joining the faculty of his alma mater, Dr. Caprio worked at the World Bank for seventeen years. His most recent work The Guardians of Finance: Making Regulators Work for Us was published by MIT Press in February of 2012 and argues that our regulators do not work for the public interest but rather the economic elite.
