Lynn E. Turner

Mr. Turner has the unique perspective of having been the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission, a member of boards of public companies, a trustee of a mutual fund and a public pension fund, a professor of accounting, a partner in one of the major international auditing firms, and the managing director of a research firm. In 2007, Treasury Secretary Paulson appointed him to the Treasury Committee on the Auditing Profession.

Mr. Turner served as the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from July 1998 to August 2001. As Chief Accountant, Mr. Turner was the principal advisor to the SEC Chairman and Commission on auditing and financial reporting and disclosure by public companies in the U.S. capital markets as well as the related corporate governance matters. These issues included the oversight and development of U.S. auditing, accounting and disclosure standards, as well as matters affecting audit committees of public companies. In that capacity, Mr. Turner worked on development of rules and regulations, worked regularly with Congress, various federal and state government agencies, international regulators, representatives of industry, and the accounting profession.

Mr. Turner has received honorary doctorates in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and Grand Valley State University. He is a two time recipient of the SEC Chairman’s Award for Excellence. He has been named to the list of Top 100 Accountants in the U.S. He has received the national award for Business Information (Accountant) Professional of the Year from Beta Alpha Psi, the National Accounting Honorary Society. He has been awarded the American Accounting Association Exemplar award. He has received the Max Block Distinguished Article Award from the New York Society of CPA’s. He has been named the Colorado State University College of Business Alumni of the Year.
