Tamara Draut
As Vice President of Policy and Programs, Tamara Draut oversees the development and strategic direction of the organization’s core programs and communications, working closely with the President to expand Demos’ impact, influence and capacity. Previously, she served for seven years as the Director of the Economic Opportunity Program at Demos. She is the author of Strapped: Why America’s 20- and 30-Somethings Can’t Get Ahead published by Doubleday in 2006. Her research and writing focuses on the growing economic insecurity, rising indebtedness, and declining opportunity that now characterize American society.
Draut’s research has been covered by dozens of newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, BusinessWeek, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Her writing has appeared in The San Francisco Chronicle, The American Prospect, TheBostonGlobe and TheBostonReview. She is a frequent television commentator and has appeared on the Colbert Report, Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight and Fox News.
